Mom's Sweet Chex Mix

This sweet and a little bit salty Chex party mix is the perfect snack to take to holiday parties or to have out on your coffee table when your family arrives. We add mixed nuts, craisins and candy according to who is coming and what they like.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 4 cups of kettle corn
  • 2 cups of Corn Chex cereal 
  • 2 cups of Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup of butter pretzel snaps
  • 1 cup of mixed nuts (optional)
  • ½ cup of craisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Stir over medium heat until it boils.
  2. Boil, stirring constantly for one minute.
  3. Pour over cereal mixture (excluding craisins). 
  4. Bake at 250 degrees F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and mix in craisins and candy (if you’d like).
  6. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Notes

My younger sister loves Sixlet candies, so my Mom adds them to the mixture right after it comes out of the oven. Don’t be afraid to use up whatever you have in your cupboard (coconut, dried cherries, etc.). This recipe is super versatile!
